2 Active WAN Ports - Not Working

I am having Trouble getting 2 Active WAN Ports on my XG115 v18 Firewall.  I have configured Ports 2 and 3 for WAN and both are set to Active.  When I look at WAN Link Manager it shows that Port 3 is never active.  I have tried with both being same weight and different weights, however, this is no help.

I do not want the ports to failover from one to the other, I am trying to use the ports for load balancing.  I have setup SD-WAN policy routing as well but still port 3 is never showing active.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I have followed the guides for setting up multiple WAN ports but this has been no help.

    Hi ,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community!

What is the status of the Port3? Is it down?

The gateway failover rule may be configured to ping the gateway IP address, and if the firewall does not get any reply from the gateway, it considers it as down.

Is ICMP allowed on the gateway?

You could try to change the failover rule as follow.

Note: The failover rules are used to determine the gateway status.

It could be ping to external IP addresses such as 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 or TCP connection to 4.4.4.2 on port 80.

To configure failover conditions, do as follows:

    • Click Add to add a new failover rule. You can also edit an existing rule.
    • Enter the details for the rule.

This screenshot shows an example rule. The rule states that if XG Firewall can't ping the gateway IP, 172.16.16.15, or establish a TCP connection on port 80 to 4.2.2.2, the gateway is considered down.

     Thanks,

  • Port 3 is down.  I have tried adding the failover and the port is still showing down.

If I disable Port 2, then port 3 becomes active but that is the only way I can get port 3 active.  I am not able to get both active at the same time.  Not sure this may be the issue or not but the gateway IP is the same for both Port 2 and 3.  I have multiple IP address available from the ISP and would like to utilize more than one if possible.

I am not sure about the ICMP, I guess I would need to contact my ISP about that.

    Hi ,

It is not possible to configure two different interfaces with the same network.

The load balancing and failover is applicable only if you have multiple ISP uplinks on your firewall.

    Thanks,
