Connection issues with Ring mobile app in v18 MR-4

Ever since updating to v18 MR-4, I'm having issues with the Ring app on iOS with SSL/TLS Inspection enabled. In previous XG builds, I was not experiencing this issue with the same settings I have now.

  • SSL/TLS inspection is enabled with an associated rule for my iOS devices.
  • I have the Sophos certs loaded on my iOS devices. SSL/TLS inspection works fine and I haven't had issues in the past with the Ring app.
  • I have ring.com added to the Local TLS exclusion list (I had to do this prior to MR-4).

Looking at the logs, it looks like everything related to the Ring app is bypassing SSL/TLS inspection as I'd expect based on the Local TLS exclusion list. Some parts of the app work, but the dashboard area will not load with an error message that "The Ring App has a temporary connection issue." with some additional text. If I add my iOS device to a SSL/TLS inspection rule with an action to 'Don't Decrypt' (i.e. bypass SSL/TLS inspection), everything works fine.

Any other Ring users out there experiencing similar issues? It could also be an update on Ring's end but it happened right after updating to MR-4.
