firewall manager update firmware - factory reset box

I recently updated our firewall manager from 17.1.2 to 17.1.5 and after the reboot it had reset to factory default.

I managed to get a configuration backup from 17.1.2 but it won't restore on the 17.1.5 version and Sophos support and stumped, has anyone had anything like this happen before?
