Malware Protection Dual Antivirus Cost/Benefit analysis in terms of performance vs risk

Hello everyone,

I apologize in advance if this is  a 'noob' question - however I was wondering if there was any performance reporting of the two antiviruses that are part of the malware protection, particularly in terms of how many instances of malware are detected on the second AV scan vs the first AV scan.  Normally, if my XG firewall is not overloaded with traffic, I prefer the additional security of having a 2nd scan as a failsafe.  However, at times like these during the extended Christmas Holiday period where SPAM throughput seems to peak, I wonder if that sense of security is warranted over the stable performance over these peak periods.

Are there any reports that monitor the success rates of the first scan vs the 2nd scan?  Without the data - I can only assume that there must be some benefit for the dual scan to be offered as an option -  unless it is merely to satisfy industry competition or customer concerns?
