OSPF Auto Interface Cost not working

It appears that Auto interface cost is not working in XG v 17.5.14 or v18.0.3.

I have set the Auto cost reference bandwidth to 40000 Mbits/sec in the advanced OSPF settings to match my core switches.

In the Override interface configuration, I have the Auto Interface Cost selected. The interface is connected at 1Gbps.

Based on the math, I would expect to see the OSPF cost in the Routing information to be 40 (40000/1000=40), but I am seeing a cost of 4000 on thedirectly connected subnet.

If I uncheck Auto Interface cost and manually set the cost to 40, then the cost shows up properly as 40.

  • I can confirm the same issue here.  While mine is on VMWare, most guests detect that my links are 40Gbs.  Inside networking, whether left to auto, or hard set to 1000 or 10000(no option for 40000), OSPF costs are calculated based off a 10Mb link rather than the actual or set speed.
