Sophos XG v 18 VoIP over SIP trunk

Hi

A short background. We have just moved from Watchguard to Sophos and I have a lack of understanding on how some specific things work on Sophos firewall compared to the watchguard.

We have a WAN IP adress and two internal LANs, one is a static adress for our VoIP solution on a 172... subnet and the other LAN is for our local network on a 192... subnet.

Just installed the new Sophos firewall with a WAN port and the two above specified LAN ports.

The only firewall rule we have so far is the default one that came with the firewall for traffic going from internal LAN to the internet.

Now to my odd question, to my big suprise the VoIP phones receive calls and we can make outgoing calls without any additional rules in the firewall.

On our old Watchguard we had to make custom firewall rules for specific ports and specify the IP adress of our service provider that the calls were routed from. Now it just works with one out of the box default rule.

I can understand the outgoing calls going through since the default rule allow traffic from LAN to WAN but how come the incoming calls find their way in to the network?

Any help and explanation much appreciated.
