New Home Build For 1g connection

Hello,

I'm also looking to get a XG Home machine but with the different posts about compatibility problems I don't know what to take.

I wanted to get the equivalent of an XG-135 with a SuperMicro Atom C3558 motherboard with passive cooling but one person hasn't been able to boot XG Home on it for 3 years.

I found the ASRock J5040-ITX (Intel Pentium Silver J5040 (Quad-Core 2.0 GHz / 3.2 GHz) which is normally much more powerful than the ATOM.

1 Gb/s Fiber (IPS hyperscan mode + web filter + web server protection + maybe AV))

What do the experts think?

sorry I'm doing like this I can't write in this post

  • Hi ,

You published two threads with the same content, I will delete the other post later.

    What do the experts think?

It highly depends on your network, are you going to do any TLS Decryption ?

What kind of traffic is passing through your network, are most of It TLS ? Any P2P ? Will your firewall also handle VPN connections ?

Another important thing, since you have a 1Gbit/s connection, will you have any need to get 1Gbit/s over a single connection ? If not, the Intel J5040 is good enough for 1Gbit/s without TLS Decryption.

    Thanks!

  • Hello,

no TLS Decryption with this CPU because I would like to stay on a rather low CPU configuration.

VPN yes but just for me if I need and yes I need it to be able to do 1 Gb/s on a connection.

In CPU Soc I couldn't find better in low conso.

But I don't know if the motherboard is compatible !?

  • Hi,

you will need to make sure the NICs are intel and not i219 series which are not supported.
