VOIP software question this one has me scratching my head.

Hello We are using a XG and our VOIP is set up and working correctly except for one small instance.

Due to the pandemic we started using the MiVoice 2380 software from Mitel for the homeoffice users who connect over the XG VPN.

When someone in the company calls someone in homeoffice it works perfectly. And in reverse it works just as well.

However when a homeoffice user calls a homeoffice user without using the area-code the voice is blocked.

If they use the area -code it works just fine.  So something is blocking the internal communication from softphone to softphone. When using the area-code means the call is going out over the firewall and back in which works.

I've poured over the logs but haven't found anything that is being blocked. But then again I'm not sure where I should be looking.

So I was wondering if anyone else had an issue like this, and if so how they fixed it.

  • You should check with your provider, what your VOIP is using. I guess SIP? Then you should draw a map to find the path of your packets. Because likely VOIP is using one channel to agree, which port to use and then the phones calls directly. But that depends on the solution.
