Bridging a interface and rules

Our ISP only gave us one active port to the internet and our XG is using that sole port. I have the need to install another appliance at the perimeter and would hate to have to install a switch when I'd like to use an unused port on the XG. Is it possible to setup a bridge on the WAN port without having to redo all the rules? This is on a 115w with v18 mr3

  • Hello David,

Thank you for contacting the Sophos Community!

So, if you have Port2 as WAN, and Port3 is empty and you want to bridge these two ports together as a WAN interface it won't allow you to.

If you want to install both of your devices with a public WAN you would, unfortunately, have to put a small switch between the XG and the Modem of your ISP.

    Regards,

  • Never go this route down. A firewall product should not be used to replace an entire switch. You have to create network bridges on XG, which essentially work but i do not recommend.
