Update to v18 from v17.5 in HA causes a simultaneous reboot on both devices

Just wondering if others are actually seeing this double reboot happen when they update their firewalls in HA mode?

From the release notes "HA: SFOS 18.0 moved to SSH tunnel-based secure communication for the HA cluster. If you're upgrading the HA cluster to 18.0 or later, both the devices in the cluster will reboot simultaneously once. You'll receive an alert on the UI before you can proceed."

I assume there's just no way around the downtime but figured I'd ask to see of someone knew something different??  Maybe I've become to used to 0 downtime upgrades...

Thanks.

  • Hello Moltron5k,

I just upgraded my HA XG 330's 3 days ago.  Yes both devices reboot at the same time and traffic is dropped, but the entire upgrade took 10 minutes from hitting the download and install button 18.0.3 to WAN links and Internet accessible again. No issues were experienced at all.
