APX120 does not show up XG115w's pending AP list - I have read similar threads

I added an APX120 to my small and very simple network, but it does not show on the pending list.

Here are the details:

Sophos XG115W   SFOS 18.0.3 MR-2

APX120 running V2.3.1-5

I read the troubleshooting post and several similar threads.

APX120 is receiving an IP address from my Windows DHCP Server (192.168.8.108)

The DHCP server gateway is the XG Firewall's IP address (192.168.8.254)

(I also setup option 234 with the Windows DHCP server, but I don't think that was necessary)

A few months ago I added an AP 15C with no problems

This packet capture shows traffic for Port 2712 (it's also attached as PDF)

   Source 192.168.8.108   Dest 192.168.8.254 Incoming

   Source 192.168.8.108   Dest  192.168.8.254 Consumed

   Source 192.168.8.254   Dest   192.168.8.108 Genen

As a workaround I'm using the APX120 using a trial version of Central Wireless.

It registered without any problems and is working - but I want to manage it via my XG115.

Thank you

    Hi ,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community!

Did you check if there was any pending AP firmware update on the firewall? If yes, please update the AP firmware, and as you want to register this AP with the firewall, remove it from the central wireless and rest the AP.

Reset an APX series access point

How to restart and reset an APX series access point (AP).

    Introduction

Depending on how long you press and hold the reset button, you can reboot an AP and also reset its configuration and image to factory defaults.

Restarts with current image and configuration

    To restart, do as follows:

    1. Press and hold the reset button for up to 8 seconds.
    2. Release the reset button.
The AP restarts (LED turns off, then turns solid green).

Restart with the current image and a factory default configuration

    To restart, do as follows:

    1. Press and hold the reset button for 15 to 20 seconds.
    2. Release the reset button.
The AP restarts with a factory default configuration.

    Thanks,

My APX 120 is using firmware V 2.3.1-5 which is the most current available (I checked for additional updates).

My XG115w is also using the most current available version of SFOS: 18.0.3.MR-3 (I checked for additional updates).

I removed the APx120 from Central management and reset it and then waited for it to display as a pending access points on my XG115.   That never happened even after the AP went through several cycles (red, flashing green, temporary steady green and then back to red).

The packet trace shows packets coming and going from Port 2712 on the access point (192.168.8.108).   My earlier post on this thread has a PDF showing a sample of the packets.

Tonight I'm going to put the AP back on Central management so I can use it.   Any suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks - John
