Successful XG install - No boot device

I'm trying to install the current (18.0.1) version of XG onto physical hardware and not having any success. I've tried on two different systems (a Core i3 and a newer Wyse with an AMD processor, both 64-bit systems with 8+ GB RAM) and multiple storage devices from 32 GB - 500 GB. I used Rufus to create the bootable USB, which seems to work fine. The installations all show successful, but the machine fails to boot afterwards.

If I look at the disk using EaseUS Partition Master (or any other partitioning software), I see an unallocated space (about 10% of the drive), a 136 MB "Other" partition, then a 64 MB FAT32, then another unallocated space for the remainder of the drive.

I've seen several threads on this, but I haven't found a solution.

Any assistance would be really appreciated. I really love the product, but this is pretty frustrating.

  • Hi,

how many NICs of what type? Intel i219 series are not supported neither are m2. storage devices. Further try formatting the disk in another device.

  • I've got one NIC in either device currently, and I know that will put it into Safe Mode on boot, but it currently comes up with No Boot Device. Big difference in errors. Storage is SATA attached. I was able to finally get it to install on the Core i3 system, so I tried to move the drive to the other system and it just comes up with No Boot Device. I'm guessing it's VERY particular about hardware / BIOS / UEFI or Legacy, etc. and that's where my problem is. I've tried setting the Wyse (this is the system I really want to use due to it's extremely small foot print) to Legacy and BIOS, but it still doesn't work.
