who is the provider of Geo IP DB that is on XG (v18 MR3)

I have a query as it seems I am asking and am unable to get a easy answer.

I use both the XG (v18 MR3) and UTM for Customer installations.

They use a service from us with a Public IP address, on both products they resolve to a different country, one in the UK and the other location to one of two countries in Europe.

the XG resolves the GEO IP to UK, which is where it should be.

the UTM resolves this IP to a Swiss location, and I am being told it is a problem with the IP Address and I must get the provider to get the address corrected via the MaxMind website...

do risk the chance that if there is a change would it make the XG unusable? that is if it is wrong.

  • I have also been informed that the XG uses a different method to the UTM of identifying IP Location.

    do you have any information on this, and when it was changed ?

    I am looking for any details on it rather than going to the Maxmind website, which i have already done.

  • I don't believe the two sets of software use different methods. I can't say for certain. I can say that SFOS v18 introduced regular up2date updates for the GeoIP database. I am not so familiar with UTM but it could be that they are using different versions of the database? I will try to confirm this.
