Access points channel assignment Dyn Chan

Hello everyone, 

We have some APs being managed with an XG210 (SFOS 17.5.13 MR-13) and I have some questions regarding the channel assignment modes.

 

When I select the option dyn channel it opens a message saying: "On enabling "Dyn chan", the system scans for best channel at regular intervals which may result in re-connection of all connected clients."

I'd llike to know how this regular intervals work, I mean, are they executed at some schedule by defaulf?

Is there any other sustancial difference with the dyn channel + time-based  scan apart from the schedule of the scan?

 

If  I selec Auto mode only, how does the channel assignment work? Does never change the channel once it selected one?

    Hello mh3000,

    Thank you for contacting the Sophos Community!

    It is not recommended to use Dyn Channel, but rather only select Auto. When set to Auto, the AP will select the best channel once the AP boot. 

    With Dyn Channel, the interval is every hour (as per internal doc I found), and changes the Channel automatically, When the scans happen all users will get disconnected, momentarily; the schedule option basically allows you to specify which days or from which hours you want this scan to happen.
