Multiple SSL VPN connections from same user

Hello, we are fairly new to our XG 330 and i am wondering if there is a setting somewhere to allow multiple connections from the same user when using the SSL VPN.  Right now, if i am connected with my laptop and try to connect with my desktop, i get an auth failed error.

  • Hello TheGewp,

Thank you for contacting the Sophos Community!

Any reason why you are trying this setup?

But yes it should be possible, make sure that under Configure >> Authentication >> Users >> TheuserNAme >> Simultaneous Logins is enabled, if Use Global Setting is enable, this option is configured from Configure >> Authentication >> Services >> Global Settings

  • Hi emmosophos, thanks for the quick response!  For me personally i will occasionally be testing something for a user or just multitasking more than usual.  I am hoping this helps an issue we have run into where if you do not disconnect cleanly from the SSLVPN it will not let you connect again until the timeout expires.  This has been frustrating for some users with flaky internet connections.

Speaking of timeouts, i have not been able to find a place to force the VPN to disconnect an active connection after a certain amount of time.  Our Palo Alto used to let us force users to login again every X number of hours.  Is that something that can be configured on the XG?  Thanks!

  • Hello TheGewp,

    Thank you for the follow-up.

This is not possible at the moment, the XG can disconnect Idle clients after a certain time.

You can disconnect users at any time by going to Monitor & Analyze >> Current Activities >> Live Users (Select the user and click disconnect)

Additionally to this, you can create either by Group or User-specific Access time.

    Regards,
