Restore Confiuration from SG125w to SG125

Hello Community,

We are migrating Sophos SG Firewalls to XG. The old hardware remains, an XG firmware is installed on the firewall and a new configuration is created. To keep the interruption as short as possible, I have a "staging" firewall (SG125w, rev. 2), with which I prepare a configuration and then load it onto another firewall. The target firewall was a SG125, Rev. 2, but unfortunately I was not able to import the configuration backup on SG125. Also I was not able to do an XML-import on SG125. All firewalls run with SFOS 18-MR1.

According to this article this should be possible:
support.sophos.com/.../KB-000036245

Are there still undocumented dependencies between SG125w and SG125 regarding the import of the configuration?

Thanks,

Ben

  • I saw in the apiparser.log that the certificate authorities were imported successfully. While importing the Admin-Settings an error occurred and then the import stops. The log-Files from yesterday are gone so I haven’t more details.

I used the manual way to create the configuration: Install XG Firmware, Base Configuration on the Console, add the Firewall to Sophos Central, push the policy with all settings and objects to the firewall and last create the firewall rules with an script over the API. The problem is it took a long time, about 2-3 Hours.  Im searching for a faster way.
