Is it possible to have Sophos Connect & SSL VPN client coexist?

We are planning to migrate a client over to Sophos XG from SG and the new import option with connect 2.0 is great. However, in testing it's been found that if you try to install Sophos Connect while the SSL VPN client is still installed, it just fails indicating that it must be uninstalled first. So my question is, is it possible to have both clients installed at the same time, via a command line flag or something else?

When you try to install Sophos Connect Client, it will look for the SSL VPN client at the default install location. If the installation process finds it at the default location, it will fail until you uninstall the SSL VPN client.

Sophos Connect Client 2.0 also supports SSL VPN, so you do not need to have a separate SSL VPN client.

Hi, I understand that, the issue is they have their existing VPN pointing to their SG firewall, so it would be an entirely new SSL VPN needed for the new XG. I may be able to pull the existing ovpn file from the vpn directory and move it into the import folder, but that's not really an ideal solution and then staff will end up with two SSL VPN profiles, one that will stop working, and one that will work after the switch.

Hello Matt,

You can use the connect client with both XG and SG. With XG you can use the new auto provisioning feature. With SG, you will have to download the ovpn file and import it. Hopefully the single Connect client should be able to meet your needs to connect to either.

Hi

I have tried the oposite way, and first install Sophos Connect 2.0 and then old SSL VPN client. Installation process has no problems, but it still does not work because of the service.

Also tried SG import on Sophos Connect, it imports policy, but I am getting errors on connect.

Actually that should work. Tried this some times and could successfully import and connect to a SG with Sophos Connect 2.0 SSLVPN.

Can you download the OpenVPN config (ovpn) from UTM and retry this?

Please do not use the .exe in user portal, instead select "different OS".

I imported .ovpn not install with .exe.

As Sophos connect uses the same mechanism as SSLVPN (openvpn), this should actually work.

If you connect to a UTM, whats the output of both ?
