Configure SD-RED and Sophos XG with an existing Firewall

Hello,

I have a network architecture with an existing firewall ( zyxel ), with all my firewall rules.

I need to install a sophos XG in this architecture and create RED connexion between multiple site ( with SD-RED box ).

The Sophos XG will only be use for site to site interconnexion, all the other firewall functionnality will be support by the zyxel firewall.

I'm wondering what mode of the Sophos XG i have to use ( gateway, bridge or mixed ? ) and how to integrate it in my architecture ( before or after the zyxel ? )

I've a read that the sophos XG in bridge mode does not support RED VPN ?

  • Hi benjamin,

I think you have answered part of your question already,

the Sophos XG is an excellent product, and in my opinion much better than then Zyxel firewall.

but if you do have to keep using the Zyxel, then ensure you have open the Zyxel for ports (as below) to go to the XG.

    • SD-RED 20 & SD-RED 60 TCP 3400 + UDP 3410.

    hope that helps
