DNS Drop through VPN site to site

Hi Community,

recently I'm facing an issue, created VPN site to site between tow offices, everything is OK, just the DNS is drop.

Example:-

I can ping Share Server 10.10.10.10.

but when try to ping sharefolder.domain.com is not working, Ping request could not find host sharefolder.domain.com. Please check the name and try again.

also can not access through the browser, but if I use the IP can access it.

Thank you

Toby

  • Hello Toby,

How do you configure DNS at the remote site?

    Try "nslookup sharefolder.domain.com"

Do you reach the server listed within the output?

Helpful you post the output here.

    Dirk

  • HI Dirk,

    Thank you for your replay.

For the DNS configuration on remote site, i just used ISP DNS.

    The output of nslookup:

    Server:  UnKnown
    Address:  10.10.10.28

    *** UnKnown can't find sharefolder.domain.com: Non-existent domain

Before there is no any issue, however recently i get this problem.

    Hi ,

Did you have a static host entry for the domain, and you removed it for some reason, and it does not work now? If you have a public DNS server configured, then the internal domain name. You could either use an internal DNS server or add a static host entry for the specific internal domain.

    Thanks,
