Blocking Mac from WAN

Because I want to block my cameras from accessing the WAN, I read the following article:

support.sophos.com/.../KB-000035664

It says:
Note: MAC-based internet filtering works only when the network nodes are directly connected to Sophos Firewall. In network scenarios where the nodes are connected via a firewall, router or a layer 3 switch, User-MAC binding must be enabled. For details, please refer to the article in the related information section below.

So I read the link below and not sure how I'd apply that to my situation -- or is there a better way to accomplish what I'm trying to do?

  • Hello Joe,

Thank you for contacting the Sophos Community!

If the XG is seeing the original IP of the Camera you could create a Firewall rule LAN to WAN, for the IP of the cameras and set the Firewall rule as Drop.

If the XG is not seeing the original IP or the MAC address then you would need to block this connection at the device that sees the original IP of the cameras.

    Regards,
