Outbound SMTP Port 587

Hi Sophos Community,

Requesting for your assistance in my Sophos XG 210 Firewall.

Device: Sophos XG210 (SFOS 18.0.1)

Email Server: Microsoft Exchange Server 2019 On-Prem

Outbound emails to external email addresses stopped working after changing Exchange Send Connector Port 25 to 587.
In Sophos XG>Protect>Rules and policies>Firewall Rule>Firewall Name: "Auto added firewall policy for MTA"
Source Zone and Source Network and Devices = ANY
Destination Zone and Destination Networks = ANY
Services = SMTP (port 25), SMTP(S)= Port 25 and Port 587

Port 587 is already added to the Firewall Rule Services, but I might still be missing something else.

I can revert back to Port 25 in the Exchange Server and Outbound emails will work again but I need to get 587 working due to other requirements.

Just to be sure, why do you need 587 for SMTP?

Hi LuCar Toni, Thank you for your question.

This is because most Home ISP has blocked SMTP port 25.

Some SMTP applications are not working because of this.

Also, the applications team needs to test some apps over Azure, and apparently, they need to use SMTP port 587 as port 25 is not supported.
