Restore after firmware upgrade not supported

Question

I have upgrade a v17 MR13 firmware to a v18 (VI-18.0.1_MR-1-Build396) , in order to obtain the firewall rules and configurations I took a backup of them. 
 When the upgrade ran it did not load the default configurations, therefore if upgraded the firmware by factory resetting the system. 
 But now the restore is not supported on the backup file that I have taken so there's no way for me to regain my configurations. 
 Is there any solution for this. Or is there any other way of doing the firmware upgrade which will not reset the firewall configurations.

 Thank you for reaching out to the Community! 
 The upgrade path from SFOS 17.5 MR13 is not supported as of now according to the release notes for XG Firewall v18 MR-1-Build396 , and that is the reason backup taken from 17.5 MR13 will not work. 
 You could rollback to the SFOS 17.5 MR13 if the firmware is still available on the firewall and then upload the backup.
