I suggest you re-install v17 then upgrade to v18. The v18 installation does not appear to have completed correctly.

Once v18 goes on as an upgrade, the XG doesn't route traffic. It knows where the outgoing gateway is, but the log file shows that the destination port column is empty.

how many wan interfaces do you have configured. If one only delete all the sd-wan and linked Nat rules. Just make sure you create you own generic Nat rule at the top of the Nat table.

otherwise wait until mr-2 which might include some fixes.

There was only the one WAN interface. Everything was deleted and it still didn't want to identify the destination interface.

I've put forward a suggestion that on the home edition download, they list the build number so that I don't have to register, and trigger another serial number, to determine when they've changed the build... as it looks like I'm now waiting for the next revision.

Is this forum monitored by Sophos or should I put forward a support request?

you are using the wrong page if you trigger a new serial number each time. Please see the screenshot for details and you should be using the network protection tab.

If I follow the Network Protection link, I go to a page of installers for the full product.

If I follow the free product links, I end up here - https://secure2.sophos.com/en-us/products/free-tools.aspx - which takes me here for the home edition - https://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/free-tools/sophos-xg-firewall-home-edition.aspx - and once I click on the "Get Started" link I then have to fill in the form again, which then generates another license code before it takes me through to the download page.

You need to be  login into your mysophos page, not the free tools each time which as you said will generate a new licence.

If you login to the mysophos page as I included the screenshot in a previous post on this thread you do not generate a new licence.

The logic behind the upgrade page is a bit flawed because you can get the upgrade onto your machine automatically without signing a new agreement as part of the software release program.

Thank you. I've found the Firmware Updated section as you indicated, and it looks like MR2 has been released.

I'll try it this evening and see if that solves the issue.

I managed to get over the UEFI boot problem and boot the 18.01 home image directly... after a bit of a fight. ... so I didn't have to go back to 17 and then upgrade from there

Then I was able to apply the patch to 18.0.2 and it stayed running.

I'm still not sure exactly what the cause was, as I was trying various combinations. I also still don't know why the upgrade from 17 to 18 caused the problems it did.

At least now I'm in a position where I can move forward.

Thanks for all the help on this. I'm not sure whether to mark it solved or not, as I'm not sure what the actual solution to this was... except a good USB stick, patience and a good supply of coffee.

Becareful, MR-2 was a test release and not final.
