XG preventing download of "core" files for folding@home

I searched this forum for this issue but did not find anything.

I run the folding@home application on a computer behind my XG. The application needs to periodically download and use a core file, which is an executable or library (I'm not sure which), which is required to run more calculations. The other communications for the folding application are fine. It's just this core file download and execution. How can I detect which control of the XG is preventing this file from downloading? It's probably some kind of malware protection.

Here is what the folding@home application log files say:

01:08:45:WU00:FS01:Downloading core from cores.foldingathome.org/.../Core_22.fah
01:08:45:WU00:FS01:Connecting to cores.foldingathome.org:80
01:08:45:ERROR:WU00:FS01:Exception: Failed reading core package header.

When I completely bypass the XG, like using a cellphone hotspot via USB, the core file downloads fine. But I'd rather figure out the firewall issue.
