XG310 - Stopping Packet Processing for approximately 4 minutes

Customers XG310 was upgraded to V18 and also Client computers were installed with Sophos Intercept X

The unit has randomly stopped passing packets for periods of around 4 minutes.

The lan or wan interfaces do not appear to be stopping. There is nothing in the system log noting that any interface is changing state.

The unit is not resetting, as there in no details of restarts in the logs.

 

According to the Firewall log, the unit is still processing packets and allowing packets through.

 

But the heartbeat log has about a 2 minute gap, then lists a large quantity of missing heartbeat messages.

The lan has both Computers and VOIP phones on the service, so the firewall rules are set to ignore heartbeat status.

The phones are going offline also, which points more to the firewall stopping.

 

The firewall was upgraded from V17.5.MR9 to V18. The first noticeable occurrence was about 2 weeks after the upgrade. At this time I upgraded the unit to V18MR1.396

 

Today it was noticed to occur twice, which has shown the anomaly in the heartbeat log.
