XG Home - console access

I am running XG Home edition (Gigabyte GA-H170M-D3H-GSM motherboard) and am unable to access the admin login screen after the last firmware update.  I have read that this can be fixed by resetting the webadmin certificate through the console.  My question is:  can the console be accessed on a unit running XG home (since there is no "console" port like on a proper appliance)?  The motherboard has a female RS232 port, anyone know whether PUTTY can access the console through this type of port?  Thx

  • Hi,

you do the same as when you installed the XG, you connect a monitor and a keyboard to the appropriate ports, that will give you console access.

  • Wow, obviously overthinking things.  I thought that to get back to that console (after OS installation), Putty access and a console communication port were required.  I'll give it a try!  thx

  • It worked, thx.  Reset the webadmin certificate and can access the device.  Previously, I had my own SSL cert installed.  It still shows up under the Cert section.  Should I choose to use it in the admin access section or should I reupload it and then select it?  I'm afraid to lose access to my device and have to repeat the reset cert process again.  Thx
