SSL VPN DNS name resolution or permanent IP addresses für vpn clients

How can I achieve DNS name resolution for SSL vpn clients?

Name resolution for LAN is working fine for SSL VPN clients with a name server and domain that I entered in the SSL VPN settings.

But that does not help me for name resolution for clients that connect via SSL VPN. In principle such a name resolution for VPN clients seems to be possible according to the forum posts 1. Duplicate VPN IPs in DNS and 2. Sophos Connect 1.3/1.4 no entry in local DNS. But I dont know how to achieve that. We have a Windows Server 2016 DNS server for the domain at the LAN network which I entered in the SSL VPN settings. The vpn clients are not domain members.

Background for this request: Remote control of the SSL VPN clients. Without name resolution I would have to retrieve the assigned IP address in the 'Control Center' of the XG firewall at 'Current activities'. Unlike L2TP, PPTP and Sophos Connect client it is currently not possible to assign a certain IP address for a SSL VPN client in the user settings:

In contrast to Sophos UTM the SSL VPN clients get every time new IP addresses when they connect with XG Firewall even if they are configured to have only 1 simultaneous login.

So static or quasi-permanent ip addresses for the SSL VPN clients would be for me a perfectly adequate alternative to DNS name resolution for SSL VPN clients.

Greetings
Udo
