XG Home Edition RAM Limit in v18?

Grateful user of XG Home Edition, thinking about v18 in my future. Given that v18 is more RAM hungry (4GB minimum) does the Home Edition still carry a 6GB RAM limit? I would feel much more comfortable upgrading if the RAM Limit was bumped to 8GB.

On a related note, has anything notable changed wrt hardware compatibility? If my hardware is happily motoring along with v17, should I expect no issue with v18?

Cheers,
Bruce.

  • Hi Bruce,

yes, the home limit is 6gb and you will be hard pressed to push the XG to use that amount of RAM.

If you have 4gb of RAM with v17 you will be okay with v18. V18 while having new features has been tuned to use less ram.

  • I am running v18 that I reinstalled on a box that was first used for v15.  The install went fine for me.  Currently, my XG has 20 sessions active and it’s using 25% CPU and 40% RAM on my home install.

  • Ian--

Thank you for the super-prompt reply. And thank you for continuing to support Home Edition.

At the risk of stating the obvious, EVERYONE has 8GB of physical RAM. It would be nice, one day, to put the full 8GB in play. Not staring a gift horse in the mouth ...

    Cheers,
    Bruce.

  • Good to hear the success story. May I ask ...

    • What version of XG did you upgrade from?
