Firmware update = no longer access webadmin

Just updated to XG Firewall 17.5 MR13. Good news: firewall is up and working, devices talking to internet. Bad news: webadmin is no longer available.

I have a tried-and-true bookmark in Edge-Chromium that has always taken me to https://LAN_IP:4444. That spins for a second and errors with "LAN_IP refused to connect" and lower down "ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED". I can ping LAN_IP aok. Tried different machine running Chrome Safari, same result.

I can connect via keyboard and video to the console. What do I need to reset, hopefully requiring the least repair work once I am back up on webadmin?

Cheers,
Bruce.

  • Problem solved.

    • Reset the webadmin certificate from console
    • Wait 10-20 minutes
    • Web admin available, with "not secure" warnings
    • Generate a new self-signed certificate, download, install
    • Activate new self-signed certificate in admin page

Never seen this happen in years of firmware updates. Hope it doesn't become a thing.

  • I have the same issue but am running XG Home edition (Gigabyte GA-H170M-D3H-GSM motherboard).  The motherboard has a female RS232 port, anyone know whether PUTTY can access the console through this type of port?
