v18 - BUG: unable to login to webconsole from within Sophos central since latest update

Hi together,

I am experiencing another annoying bug regarding v18 and Sophos Central.

Since the latest release SFOS 18.0.1 MR-1-Build396 I am unable to access the webconsole of firewalls once they are in full sync with my configured Sophos central policies.

When I try to access the device through Central, not the appliance dashboard but its login screen appears. Logging in with valid credentials will at first show the login disclaimer page that I enabled on all appliances but after clicking "accept" the login page is shown again.

This issue did definitely not exist in any previous v18 build.

Is this a known issue?

Kind regards,

David

  • This is kinda a rare issue in which the the session of Central was existing but timed out and central, instead of login in again, does not pickup the old session and instead through the webadmin.

Do you have any log off Webadmin configuration or something special in place?

Can you reproduce this after some time? (So maybe tomorrow, still this issue?).

    Is this a HA Appliance?

  • Hi LuCar Toni,

it seems you are right, I am able to log in after some sort of auto disconnect of the logged on admin account.

I can reproduce the issue during my initial deployment procedure* on every appliance that I enroll with the latest update. However, after some time passed, I am able to login again.

    Deployment procedure:

    - Appliance initial configuration dialogue and licensing (only basic configuration applied)

    - Firmware update latest release v17 -> Firmware update latest release v18

    - Register with Sophos Central and enable all Central features

    - Accept in Sophos Central

    - Move firewall to its Central Policy Group and wait for Sync to complete

    - Try to login via Central to configure specific settings <- This is where my login always fails since latest Release

The following logoff configuration is applied with a Central Policy:

Hope this might help to fix this issue.

    Thx for your time!

    Kind regards,

    David

  • Does it still appear to be the case if you disable the automatic IDLE Logoff detection?

  • I will try during our next deployment and report back.

    Kind regards,

    David

  • I am having this same issue and the only way for me to be able to log in is if I open a new fresh private/incognito.
