Sophos XG stops trying to reconnect to pppoe

with 17.5 MR12, we started see mentioned problem.

What we see in the SYSTEM log is,

  • ADSL&VDSL connection has becoming lost.
  • Appliance tries to sent PADI/RADI packet to pppoe interface.
  • it stops trying after a while.
  • then it is necessary to start the pppoe connection manually from web ui.

I have encountered this problem in three of my customers so far. Appliances was XG 86, 106 and 115. What should I do if I encounter this problem? Thank you.

    this problem exists since sophos XG has been released.. and had never been corrected.

    This issue has been identified in about 1% of our clients (150 devices), regardless of the brand of the modem, the model of the XG, the type of broadband (xDSL) and the ISP.

    already opened cases, and the answer was " you just have to reboot the appliance, we were  not able to explain that" or 'sophos respect the rfc that limits to a maximum number of reconnection trial".

    in some cases, the issue has been workarrounded by using the scheduled reconnect function at night.
