    Hi

Thank you for reaching out to the Community!

There is an option to upload the license file from the UTM to XG on the registration process. You will only see option when you re-image the firewall.

Check out the step 9 on the following KBA: Sophos XG Firewall: How to convert an SG appliance to an XG appliance with SFOS.

    Thanks,

  • Actually that is not perfectly correct.

You can migrate the License on a SG Hardware all the time on the Webadmin of SFOS under Licensing.

The point is, this is only possible on SG hardware.

If you move from SG to XG and purchase new Hardware, want to move the existing SG Subscription to the new XG Hardware, this is a sales process.

  • Hi ,

To add to what  said, there is one other alternative which is a 2-step process which can be done without a sales process aside from purchasing the new XG hardware. This can be done provided the XG target model number is the same/similar to the SG source model number (wired / wireless are treated as the same model). For example, i) if you have an SG 115 then you can upgrade the SG 115 to SF-OS, and then ii) you can transfer the license to a purchased XG 115 or XG 115W using MySophos > License Transfer.

The MySophos license transfer process is explained here: https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/126360

Note that once you migrate the license you are only entitled to use the subscriptions on the target device (XG device). However, provided the target XG device was a purchased device you may continue to use the SG box with the base license only as that license will remain.

    Regards
