XG Local backup - only one backup stored?

I'm seeing only the most recent backup in the GUI - where are the older ones stored?

My config is set to back up the unit daily (local). If I'm not mistaken the UTM showed all local backups and it was possible to easily roll back to any of them. Not seeing that option in XG.

  • Hi,

XG doesn't store any backups, it stores the last software installed which if had been active will contain the backup at that time.

If you want daily backups which I, I email them to one my email accounts and store them on the PC.

  • Hi Ian,

Thanks for the information, but that's not good news...

UTM has an option to keep X number of older backups. Any idea why XG doesn't have that?

  • You could save the backups in Central for 5 different backups.

Always bad practice to keep "all your backups" on the harddisk of your appliance. Failing hard drives or other issues will cause you total loose of your configuration.

Better to use Email Backups (to some email folder) or Central. (Or both).

  • Agreed that it's bad practice to keep all backups on the device, but it was mighty handy to be able to roll back to a certain date. On the UTM I would periodically pull a copy to another repository.

As for using Central, I thought it was not possible to administer both locally and via Central. Is that still the case?
