Deploying New Sophos Connect Connections

Hello. We've modified our Sophos Connect policies and want to deploy those to our endpoints centrally.

If we copy the modified/updated .scx files to the endpoints C:\Program Files (x86)\Sophos\Connect\import folders the files do not seem to be imported even upon restart of the Connect client.

These .scx files have the same filename as existing policies since we are only updating those. If that's a problem how do we remove the old policies?

We want to make this as seamless as possible for our 400 endpoints with no user interaction needed (you know, like real-life Enterprise-grade stuff).

  • personal notes from testing with v1.4.45.1015 of the client:

Automating import of scx files to update connection settings, routes, connection name:

option 1: See Sophos Connect: Command line interface (CLI) guide at https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/133280 - there are commands available for adding scx files to clients

option 2: Use the C:\Program Files (x86)\Sophos\Connect\import folder- any scx file added to this folder will automatically immediately be imported into the current user's vpn client and the scx file will then disappear from the folder.  If the "name" line in the scx file matches the name of an existing connection that connection will be immediately overwritten and any saved AD credentials will be purged with no prompting.  If the connection being overwritten is currently connected, it will be immediately disconnected with no prompting.  Writing in this folder requires admin privileges.
