Hi Keyur,

I dont have problem with run installation ISO on UEFI. The installation will be successful, but not boot the installed system from SSD in UEFI mode after restart.

I tried downloading ISO from https://community.sophos.com/products/xg-firewall/b/blog/posts/xg-firewall-v18-ga_2d00_build354-is-now-available but after submit End User License Agreement & Privacy Policy and Software Export Compliance , the download link forward me to https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/135412

Got the same issue. installer went through but the system was not booting after a reboot. It's a Intel NUC7 hardware with UEFI support only. Thanks!

the intel NUC7 has unsupported NICs eg 219 series. As a result XG will not install.

I have on J4105NIC Realtek 8111H + quad port Intel 82571EB on PCIe

On 1037U is dual Realtek. In this board after installation on "Legacy" boot starts SFOS normal. After install in UEFI boot, no system booting - BIOS report no system disk.

On both board report installator successfully completed.

This is not problem with NIC.

i dont have any error during installation, but after restart the system dont boot. It looks like the installer won't write UEFI boot partition.

end of all theory, I tried to go to the grub console via the installation disk and looked for the efi loader.

Only one efi loader is on USB Flash for installation (hd0,2). On SSD disk is created efi partition (the only one with FAT) - (hd1,2) , but is empty.

I copy EFI Loader from USB Install Flash to disk and modificate config to load grub.cfg on system partition. Now works :-)

Result: Bad install image of build 379 - on UEFI system dont create boot file.

a great pickup and I can relate to that issue. I had the sam problem with a v17.5 installation, but was lucky enough to have kept the previous version on CD so was able to install and then upgrade.

Hi all,

I will not solve this problem. The boot ending on grub rescue, manual start is possible and without problem (must set root nad prefix variable and switch to the normal mode, the boot menu will starts and boot Sophos). It works, but not usable for real operation. I tried generate bootx64.efi with grub config from ubuntu which loads the original config from SSD. The boot menu will load, but system not starts, ending on error "Kernel doesn't support EFI handover". Bad way.... I need olders build (cannot be downloaded from the sophos web) or bootx64.efi file from the working system. On the file xboot64.efi on installation iso is all path hardcoced to bad destination and do not accept any config file.

@Keyur - Is it possible to download an older iso somewhere? v17.5 does not support UEFi and last v18 not booting

The NUC7 comes with a Realtek 81xx NIC. I think it's the problem with the EFI boot partition as well. The hdd does not contain a boot loader after the installation.

I am not sure what NUC7 you are  looking at and why you think Intel would pay Realtek licensing fees when intel have the i219-v which is their home/domestic NIC.

All the NUC7s I have reviewed all come with i219-v.

Further I  see they have internal expansion slots but nowhere can you access the added card at least not on my two.

If you want to use a NUC7 for XG you will need to to install some form of VM software to mask the i219-v, the USB and WLAN devices so the XG thinks that are supported devices.
