Initialinstallation auf Hardware fehlgeschlagen

Hallo Leute,

Es freut mich das ich hier auch mal mein Anliegen positionieren darf.

Ich habe mich erst seit kurzem mit Sophos mehr auseinandergesetzt und habe meine Appliance auf die HomeUserlizenz freigeschaltet um die im Heimeinsatz zu testen.

Mit der UTM läuft jetzt mal alles was ich so brauche und so hatte ich mir gedacht ich setze mir paralell auf eine alte Appliance die noch rumliegt die XG auf.

 

Die Appliance ist eine alte Secure Computing Sidewinder hat allerdings nur intel Celeron 2GHZ  und 1 GB RAM jedoch läuft die UTM9  ohne Probleme darauf. geht auch nur mal ums probieren vorerst. Je nach gefallen würde ich dann doch auf die XG auf der derzeitigen SG115 weitermachen.

Bei der Initialinstallation schlägt dann aber die Installation mit einer nichts aussagenden Fehlermeldung fehl.

 

Habe ich überhaupt eine Chance das Image da drauf zu installieren oder muss ich mich mit der UTM9 zufrieden geben? 

ich habe das Image SW-17.5.12_MR-12-664.iso runtergeladen und versucht zu installieren. Habe dann auch gelesen das es wohl mit einer älteren Version und einer Migration dann klappen sollte. USB versucht mit RUFUS und BALENA Etcher und wie gesagt bei der UTM kriege ich es auch hin.

Woher bekomme ich aber eine 16.0.x Version zum download? 

Hat hier einer eine Lösung und ich habe sie nur nicht im Forum gefunden? Wäre für Hinweise auf Deutsch sehr dankbar.

    Entschuldige wenn ich jetzt noch mal blöde nachfrage, aber was genau willst du mir mit dem letzten Post sagen? 

    Ich verstehe es wirklich nicht. Die Sidewinder wo ich das versucht habe hat einen Intel Celeron an Board. UTM9 läuft da auch drauf. Das alles darauf gelöscht wird ist mir klar.

    das die Limitierung mit 4 cores und 6GB RAM bei der Homeversion ist, ist mir gleich, ich habe eh nicht so viel und möchte mir ja nur mal den Funktionsumfang und meine Anforderungen konfigurieren.

     

    Ich kriege das Ding ja aber wie in meinem ersten Post ja gar nicht zu installieren. Wenn ich jetzt etwas falsch verstanden habe bitte ich um konkrete Hinweise.

    Hi  

    I have just shared the details regarding the installation of the XG firewall home edition, I am aware of your configuration. Not sure why the installation is getting failed as there is no proper info available on the error while installing and we cannot retrieve SFOS v16 image file. I have recently install MR12 home edition in my VM without any issue but hardware configuration was different. 

    Let me tag  if he has something to share on this.

    Hi folks,

    I would like to provide assistance, but I do not understand German well enough (very simple).

    Looking at the screenshot with the error, I over came that issue with a BIOS update.

what is so different on the XG than on the UTM, because I put the image on the USB stick on the same way, with the same Tools,  and than the firmware on the appliance and it works without any problems.

    For me the first and importent question is,     whether it is possible to use this hardware or not.     if I knew that, I would be a huge step ahead. 
    The Second Question ist, whether I'm using the right ISO. I Have used the SW-17.5.12_MR-12-664.iso, but there would still be the HW-17.5.12_MR-12-664 and i Think that second iso is only for SOPHOS Appliance, Right?
    At least that was the case with UTM

    It would be really cool if someone could help me here. I saw that others were also struggling with the problem but there was nowhere a clear solution.

    Hi,

    thank you for the translation. Did you upgrade to at least 4gb of ram 60gb of disk. The XG installer is not as good as the UTM version, seems to have trouble writing over MS disks.

    hey,

    so it's done when it really needs 4 GB for an installation. I only have 1 GB on the old appliance and I cannot activate the second bank. even then I would have max 2 GB in stock which I could use. Who knows with 100% that it does not go under 4 GB. If that is the case, you can close the post office,

    V17.5 can be used with 2 GB RAM. 

    V18 needs at least 4 GB RAM to install and operate. 

     

    Those are the minimum requirements.

    HEy Lucar,

    And maybe the Version 16.x with 1GB ? HAHAHAHAH  I need the Version 16.x has nobody an ISO from that older Version?

    Is it posible to make an Upgrade from an installed Version to the Next higher version Without an compled New ISO?

    I actually managed to install the part. And everyone who has the problem, that was the solution for me !!!!!

    It actually had to do with the amount of RAM. I still had a 512kb-RAM lying around and could add the 1 GB to my built-in one. The Version i Need was SW-17.5.12_MR-12-664.

     

    Voila the installation went through and I could hear the Bethofen finish.

     

    But the joy was short-lived. When I restarted the system told me that the CPU with i686 is too old and I should take care of a new version.

    The topic of XG is thus through for me. Alone the fact that at least the UTM runs on it and XG is not annoying. If I get my hands on a new hardware,

    I might pick up on the topic again. Thanks to everyone who gave me tips and wanted to help me.
