Issue With Wireless Network (Separate Zone)

Connecting and Configuring Sophos AP 100 with XG 330

Hello All,

I am new to Wireless Protection setup.

I have the following setup i am intending to complete within a deadline.

i have XG330 firewall with WAN interface connected to Internet having static public IP address and LAN interface connected to  a switch (192.168.2.1) as an internal GW

All Local Users will connect to the LAN interface through a switch and getting IP address in the range (192.168.2.X) from the XG DHCP server.

Now am intending to configure separate zone for the wireless network and create its on DHCP and make Sophos AP100 Active on the zone.

But here is my challenge, unlike other zones (LAN, DMZ, WAN) which have physical ports on the XG, the separate zone (wifi) does not have a known port and i am confuse how I will physically attach the AP to the XG.

Should i just plug the AP indirectly through a switch to any port on the XG firewall and the system will create a virtual network how does it work.

Please i need assistance and explanation on how it works. thanks in advance

    Hi Amoo Olalekan,

For WIFI on Separate Zone, you just need to connect the AP directly to the LAN or AP management network and the AP will get an IP address through the physical connection for management purpose.

Then when you create a wireless network on Separate Zone, XG firewall will generate a logical interface for it. So you can assign IP address and create DHCP scope for the Separate Zone WIFI network.

I am more confidence on finishing the task now.
