Using SFM for XG Firewall Backup

Hi All,

We are using SFM to manage 60 XG Firewalls (59 running 17.5.11 & 1 running 18.0.0) and am seeking advice on a few things relating to backing up the XG Firewalls from SFM.

When using SFM to configure the XG Backup is this the same as setting it up locally (similar to a policy) or is it different in anyway? The reason i ask is if the XG has an encryption password defined on it locally will the backup generated from SFM require the encryption key for a restoration?

Also, is there a way to define the encryption key / password from SFM & push to the XG Firewalls?

Thanks
Adam

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your response.

Just so i am clear. Are you saying that even if the firewall itself has an encryption password set on backups that if we then configure the backup afterwards via SFM that the backup file generated will NOT require the previously defined encryption password?

Simply want to ensure we are understanding this important process correctly.

    Many thanks

    Adam
