Question about Sophos XG Firmware Upgrade to v18 MR1

I'll be upgrading a good number of XG firewalls that are several versions behind v18 MR1. The release notes mention "You can upgrade from SFOS 17.5 (MR6 to MR11) to 18.0 MR1". When having Sophos check for the latest firmware on one of the firewalls, the firmware version is SFOS 17.5.7 MR-7, but it's only advertising HW-17.5.11_MR-11.SF210-661. I'm aware i'll have to download and install that version, reboot, then the next version above that will be advertised.

My question is with the amount of firewalls i'll be upgrading to v18 MR1, is it more efficient and safe to just manually download and apply the v18 MR1 to each one(that's at least 17.5 MR6) and skip having to do multiple updates and reboots?

Second question. The firewalls are a range of different models(XG106 to XG 125 or 230). Is the manually downloaded v18 MR1 firmware update universal for everything or do i have to download an update for each specific model?

I suggest that you read more posts on this forum. Do not install v18MR1 under no circumstances. Traffic will stop.

If you want to install v18, go with 354 instead. Or wait MR1 fix.

Is there a way to download the .sig files for v18 354? When I go to MySophos, it only provides MR1.

Edit: nevermind, saw an old thread advising there is no option to download previous firmware. Will try to ask support.

Sophos just announced they pulled out MR1. Check again.

Yeah I've downloaded 354 update files now.

Btw for the OP, if you are going to upgrade, I would recommend going straight to v18 build 354. Of course test it first on non production or less important site/firewall given there are changes from 17.5. As mentioned above, if you upgrade to 17.5 MR11, you won't be able to ugprade to v18 as there is no upgrade path given v18 MR1 has been pulled.

As for the images, AFAIK, it would be the same file for all hardware models. Other available images are for virtual appliances running on VMware or Hyper-V, then Azure, software, etc.
