XG135 Rev. 2: Can't Flash Sophos XG v. 18 GA HW.

Hi! I bought a used XG135 Rev. 2 with the intent of flashing XG Home onto it. However, when I tried to install Ubuntu onto the device, there were no partitions shown. When I booted with GParted, I had the same issue—only the USB key showed up. I thought I could flash XG v. 18 on it to see what's going on, but the bottom row of status lights on the bottom just started to flash amber one by one. I tried powering the system down and then turning it on while holding the reset button for 30 seconds. Nothing showed up on screen. What is wrong with the XG135? Thank you.

  • Hi,

you will need to attach a console to the xg135 to see what is happening during installation. Further I would recommend you replace the disk with a new blank format one. Depending on how old the XG135 is will depend on whether the V18 will load or if you need a bios update. Now BIOS updates for older model XGs require assistance from other forum members.

There was a post a short while ago explainsexplaining how.

  • I'm laughing my butt off. I had to order a console cable but then it turned out my computer didn't have a serial port, so I had to order a USB console cable. I plugged it in and got nothing. So I opened the device. The HDD was unplugged. I put in a new HDD and just installed Ubuntu. Decided to provide an update here while downloading XG 18. Will let you guys know what happens. Thank you so much!
