BUG - DHCP address assignment IP4 and IPv6 different MAC addresses for same device.

Hi,

My network uses IP4 and IPv6 with a mix of static and dynamic address assignments.

One MBP is assigned an IP4 address as per the hardware MAC, but the  IPv6 address is assigned to a different MAC which I cannot find.

One W10 is assigned an IP4 address as per the hardware MAC, but the  IPv6 address is assigned to a different MAC which I cannot find.

Now the issue being that not only spurious MAC addresses but the IPv6 DUID is wrong based on the spurious MAC so I cannot sign a static address.

Both devices are running the latest version of their OSes.

  • Hi

Thank you for sharing this and as per my understanding of the scenario static DHCP lease, Same MAC address different IPv4 and IPv6 assigned, Could you please elaborate a more on this setup and behavior you noticed, it would help us to understand the scenario better. We can try to replicate the scenario if we have specific details.

  • Hi Keyur,

no, the issue is the IPv54 address is assigned to one MAC address and the IPv6 is assigned to another MAC address. The Assigned addresses are used by the devices eg a MA Book Pro and W10 machine. The MAC address used in the IPv6 DHCP assignment is not now on my network and is definitely not on the two connected devices. The other Networks devices all get an IP4 and an IPv6 address assigned to the sam eMAC address.
