Unable to login to webinterface

I installed Sophos XG firewall (Ver 18.0.0 build 321) in a vm under Virtualbox, just to look around a bit.

After installation I can log into the console with password 'Admin'. When I try to log into the webinterface with admin/admin I get a 'login failed' error.

No matter what I try, same error : Changing password from console, reset to factory defaults, complete reinstall, all same results...

I'm getting desperate, any tips?

Gilbert,

make sure you are connecting to https://lanip:4444 and not https://lanip which is the user portal.

Hi lferrara,

You were right about the user portal, it clearly says so in the screen. Unfortunaltely there is no response on port 4444, and the browser will time out..

Btw, Just to be sure, I disabled the firewall on my W10 system, but this didn't help either.. Any other suggestions, I'm about to trash the Vm and give up.. :(

Hi,

more than likely you trying to login on the WAN interface where admin access is disabled. Did you setup the DHCP server during installation and what address does your PC get assigned?
