Is there a way to block the Windows 10 feature to share internet through WIF as hotspot?

Im using Sosphos XG Firewall and some users are sharing internet to theri phones with their computer with windows 10, that is not allowed in our network. thanks.

    you can do this from your MS AD with a group policy rather than trying to do it through the XG.

  • I know it can be possible "from" windows, but that is the reason I ask if is the way to block it through the firewall.

  • Do the users authenticate via the AD to access the internet?

    Think of how the connection is made, and the data transport.

    I expect he Sophos would see all of the data usage as being from the computer, and on a pure packet flow issue, would be difficult to distinguish from the data used by the computer.

     

    You could try looking at setting up some application filters, and filtering out common Phone only apps.

     

    I assume that the computers have Wifi installed. So if you are not using the Wifi in the computer to connect to the lan then group policy to disable the Wifi

    If you need the wifi in the computers, then group policy or registry entries to disable the wifi sharing.
