BIOS freeze on SG135, is this repairable?

Hi,

My SG135 stopped working and does not boot anymore. I connected the device to a monitor and all I see is a BIOS screen with a 99 code on the bottom right.

After that nothing happens and there is no response when hitting the DEL or ESC on the keyboard. I can see green LED's lighting up inside the device, but the bios screen freezes and nothing else happens.

Is my SG135 repairable?

(it is out of the warranty period)

  • MKR74,

on normal computer, code 99 means that the motherboard needs to be replaced. You can try to open the box and reset the CMOS using the jumper next to the battery or remove the battery, keep the power button for 15 seconds and reinstall the battery. Of course all the operations must be performed with no power cable connected.

If there is no battery or CMOS jumper, you need to replace the SG with a new one (maybe XG model).

  • Hi Iferrara,

The strange thing is: my other SG125 shows exactly the same BIOS screen with a "99" code and instantly boots after that.

  • Hi,

Maybe the hardware is ok but the flash content on SG135 matherboard is damaged. You can try to rebuild the system from an SFOS ISO image launched from a USB stick. The installation procedure, if it starts, formats flash and SSD and installs the new SFOS. Maybe it will work, who knows ?

  • Unfortunately it does not boot with a SFOS bootable USB stick.

(the same USB stick does boot and install on another working SG125)
