SSL VPN Client user OTP in another timezone

Hi,

I've raised this with Sophos support but they are taking 'forever' to be of any use so far....

We are UK based and have an employee who travels frequently and when abroad cannot connect his SSL VPN Client with the OTP and app on his iPhone once he is in another timezone. We literally have to remove his One Time Password entry from the XG and he can then go into the user portal and re-add himself with the QR. This then works. When he gets to the UK he has to do this again!.

In fact, if he is in the USA then as soon as he moves to another timezone the problem reappears.

From my UK based desk & mobile phone I thought I'd be able to recreate this but I cannot. I have done a bit of testing to this firewall appliance using my own laptop and phone (Android). I found that I had no problems connecting at all when I tried all combinations of timezones on my laptop & phone.

Is this a "thing"?

Tech info:

A Cyberoam CR50iNG running SFOS 17.5.0 GA. It is in the Europe/London timezone.

Thanks folks.

Andy

  • Hi Andy,

our users travel around the world and usually do not see this issue. They are also using an iPhone. Don't change the time manually - only change the timezone and sync with your provider instead of changing the time manually. However this is on SG - but AFIK XG and SG use the same software (but probably not version).

Analyse the log on the firewall and  the client to see whats really happening.
