The past few months on my XG has been very slow, and I can't figure out what on the router is causing it. I think it's just the software itself. I looked at some other threads of people with the same issue but none of their solutions fixed my problem.
Setup:
- Sophos XG home (SFOS 15.5.8 MR-8)
- Cox Ultimate cable 300Mbps down / 30Mbps Up
- Sophos is running on an intel i7-4930K w/ 8GB ram allocated. Using it on windows 10 w/ hyper-v
- Cable modem goes into dual Intel Pro nic 1GB with the ports set to full 1GB duplex. It's a dumb modem also, no bridged settings needed.
I have nothing running but a basic firewall rule which allows everything. No Intrusion services running or AV, etc. RAM and CPU levels are low, nothing wrong there.
I used to download around 30MB/sec and upload around 3.5MB/sec. Now it's been around 10MB/sec downloads and uploading is 85KB/sec. Cox was doing some work down the road, but they came out and checked everything with their meters. All good. I have not changed anything since installing XG from UTM about 9 months ago, except for installing new firmware updates.
Webpages take longer to load now, and the internet seems just instable when streaming. But when I login to NordVPN on the p2p and stream tv, it's more stable. Could this just be an issue with XG? I have not been a fan of it compared to UTM... It seems very chaotic on how things work to me. Any thoughts on things to check, before I just switch back to UTM.
