SSL VPN site to site

Hello everyone,

I have been playing around with VPN tunnels now for a couple of weeks but everything is unsatisfying.

Current situation is IPSec site to site VPN with two Sophos XG.

Unfortunately the speed via VPN is not the best.

WAN ~ 20 - 30 Mbit

IPSec <= 10 Mbit

I have been playing around with MTU settings but nothing worked.

I wanted to try the SSL VPN site to site setting as I am using ordinary SSL VPN on my mobile phone to tunnel my traffic.

For site to site it seems that the traffic is not being tunneled.

Is there a possiblity to do that?

So main Sophos XG acts as the main gateway & remote Sophos tunnels all the traffic to the main one.

  • Hi Lucar,

the performance issue is still there.

I now use RED site-to-side with static routing.

When I run speedtest-cli from my Raspberry pi which is connected to the WAN router (LTE Fritzbox) I currently get

    Download: 17.72 Mbit/s

    Upload: 15.09 Mbit/s

Unfortunately speedtest-cli does not work on my remote machines. I used iperf3 instead.

So running iperf3 from my desktop to a remote machine got

    sender 9.44 Mbit/s

    receiver 9.29 Mbit/s

Any ideas how to tune the Red tunnel?
