Function of bridge mode interfaces

Question

Good afternoon, sir, 
 What is the exact function of bridge mode interfaces in a xg125 firewall? 
 Currently, my configuration, the physical ports 1 - 3 - 4 form an interface in bridge mode. What is the configuration that was done in the first installation of XG firewall.

To add to this. 
 Basically XG build a Network Bridge. 
 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bridging_(networking) 
 You will have a "smart Switch" afterwards.
