Older Version Of Sophos Home XG

How old?

I have some that are burnt to CD.

I was running the latest firmware on May 12, 2019. That is the last day my backup was downloaded to my ftp server.

According to my backups that would be 17.5.5.

is there a repository for older iso's? 

If not do you have a copy of 17.5.5?

Lastly, is there a way to determine what version of the backup I have as my backup name is just the date it was taken.

Hi,

my backups are named after the version  automatically, but they are emailed to me. You should be able to use a 5.5 backup for a 5.6 installation.

have you tried with 5.7 which I think is the current iso and you might be able to restore to that otherwise I have a copy of 5.6.

Sophos do not usually leave older software versions on the download pages.

I tried the current most up to date ISO and that wouldn't allow me to use my backup. 

If you have a copy of 5.6 would you please share.

I have copy of 5.6 but need somewhere tempt it until I fix my NAS.

Is your backup encrypted?

How did you install XG in the failed box?

Yes. my backup is encrypted. 

I have an SFTP server you can upload it to. I will inbox you the details.

probably means your backup is a later version, because encryption added until after 5.5.

I have been able to restore a 5.5 backup to 5.7. I was not able to restore later backups until manually created one, somehow the mailed backups were corrupted.

Does anyone know how to work around the error "please upgrade ips and application signatures for this restore" when attempted to restore from a backup?

Firmware patterns show successful update as of 9/23/2019.

Is it looking for a specific file? I've rebooted several times. 

I'm sure folks that have this device in production can't be waiting to update signatures before they can restore a backup. Seems sort of backwards to me. but that is just my 2cents.

I don't think it provides the answer you are looking for though because your XG shows the latest firmware, but for which packages?

Yeah. That KB really didn't help my situation. So I found an older backup to use and that worked. It's missing a few rules but atleast i'm not starting from scratch.
