Is NAT required or VPN

Please a customer has a CCTV systems and wants to be viewing the cameras from outside the network.

The customer asked I do a NAT.

So I want to know if its NAT to be done or a VPN. Also, how to go about it.

Hi,

you would need to setup a business rule setting the CCTV as the server.

Although I have not tested if it is working or not but these are the things have done so far.

1. I created an Alias with the IP address of the NVR mapped to the WAN.

2. Created an IP host with same IP address

3. Created a NAT with same IP info

4. Then created a business rule.

N.B: I was given just a port number and the NVR IP address. So want to know if that is enough.

Hi,

you don't need an alias or the IP host with the same IP address or a NAT.

You setup the port as part of the business rule and use the internal address of the NVR.

Source zones : WAN

Allowed client networks :ANY

Destination host/network :The Alias created

Services: HTTP

Protected server(s): If I do not create an IP host nothing to be selected here

Protected server(s): WAN

Mapped port: 8000

sorry, I thought the NVR was a DHCP device using static IP addressing.

Mapped Port is the Port on the other End (Basically what the traffic looks like after NAT).

I guess you have to switch Service with mapped Port.

LuCar Toni I do not seem to understand that. The customer just gave a port number 8000 that all traffic should be forward to the NVR internal IP address.
